Could You Pass 8th Grade Science? I got 84% for a B – I’m pretty sure that’s what I got in 8th grade, too.
I did OK in science, but I never did any Hilarious Science Fair Experiments. Despite the title, they’re not all hilarious (really, I think it’s the pictures of the dorky kids that the authors think are hilarious), but experimental highlights include “Crystal Meth: Friend or Foe?” (gee, I wonder what the conclusion is?) and “Does Exercising Effect?” (good thing it’s not a Grammar Fair).
Speaking of science, ScienceBlogs has a nice post about the scientific consensus on global warming, and misunderstandings about what “consensus” means in science (in this case, it means the stuff pretty much every serious scientist agrees on, so it’s a rather watered-down version of a reality that’s probably more alarming).
And speaking of overwhelming consensuses that are still disputed by ignorami, The Christian Century magazine has a thoughtful article on Kentucky’s Creation Museum.
And creationists, of course, have their own places on the Web. Here’s a roundup of creationist humor (topped with the weirdly accurate cartoon pictured above).
